Amazon EFS is a managed NFS v4 service. That can scale with the growth of the filesystem, and can support performance up to 10GB/s and 500,000 IOPS, at petabyte scale.

Storage is accessible across multiple instances across availability zones, regions, and VPCs, with on-premises access via AWS Direct Connect and AWS VPN.

Mount helper

AWS provides a mount.efs helper to automate configuration in the amazon-efs-utils package.

Data is encrypted at rest, and encryption in transit is configured by default by the mount helper using stunnel.
