MeetingBar

MeetingBar makes it fairly difficult to miss meetings, or get lost in the myriad meeting tools around today.

My configuration is as follows.

General

  • Launch after login

Appearance

Events

  • Show events for today
  • All day events: show
  • Other events: show
  • Events without guests: show
  • Past events: show as inactive
  • Pending events: show
  • Declined events: show with strikethrough

Status bar

  • Icon Calendar
  • Title event title
  • shorten to 55 characters
  • Time: show
  • Show only events starting within 60 minutes
  • Shorten event title to 50 character
  • Time format: 24-hour
  • Show event:
    • ✅ end time
    • ✅ icon
    • ✅ details as submenu

Services

  • Open all meeting links in Default Browser
  • Open Google Meet links in Google Chrome
    • To have these open in the Google Meet PWA:
      • Install the PWA:
        • Open Google Chrome.
        • Browse to Google Meet.
        • In the URL bar, click Install.
      • Install the SpeedyMeet extension:
        • Clone the repo somewhere with gh repo clone rexfm/SpeedyMeet.
        • In Chrome, navigate to chrome://extensions.
        • Enable Developer mode.
        • Click Load unpacked, browse to the location you cloned SpeedyMeet to, then click Select.
      • Configure the PWA to start at login time:
        • Open System Preferences and navigate to Users & Groups, then Login Items.
        • Click +, then browse to ~/Applications/Chrome Apps.localized, choose Google Meet.app, then click Add.
        • Check the Hide box next to Google Meet to keep it out of the way.
  • Open Zoom links in Zoom app
  • Open Teams links in Teams app
  • Open Jitsi links in Default web browser
  • Create meetings via Google Meet
  • Use web browser Default Browser
