RED metrics

The RED method is the monitoring philosophy at Weaveworks. They're well-suited to request-driven services.

Metrics

• (Request) Rate is the number of requests, per second, services are serving.
• (Request) Errors is the number of failed requests, per second.
• (Request) Duration is the distribution of response times.
